L’AINE CONNECTS STUDENTS TO THE WORLD OF WORK

L’AINE CONNECTS STUDENTS TO THE WORLD OF WORK
July 13, 2016 laine

We always talk about how students who come out of the tertiary institutions come to the working environment with very little or no practical knowledge. Therefore, in the bid to curb this situation and as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility, L’AINE Services established the “Bridge the Gap” (BTG) internship programme. The programme, an initiative that seeks to give students a practical feel of how the knowledge they have learnt in school can be applied in the workplace, is done by linking students to internship opportunities at selected organisations.

This year’s BTG programme was organised on the 23rd of May, 2016 at the head office of L’AINE Services Limited. Out of a large competitive pool of applicants from tertiary institutions from all over Ghana, 53 students showed up to go through the process. They were taken through an aptitude test, followed by a series of speed interviews conducted by staff of L’AINE Services. This process enabled the interviewers screen the students and identify their competencies, which would aid in their internship placements.

The CEO of L’AINE Services, Dr. Mrs. Ellen Hagan, in her debriefing session with the students talked about aspects of corporate life, ranging from personal branding, customer service and proper workplace conduct. This, according some students present, was very impactful and would indeed leave a lasting impression and go a long way to help them as they venture into the workplace.

When asked to give his comment on the programme, Mawuli Adjei, a student of Ashesi University, currently interning in Focus Digital, stated that “the sessions during the programme did a lot to strengthen my understanding of the importance of personal leadership and how it can spur me on for future greatness. I would wholeheartedly refer all students in the university to apply for the programme in the future.”

After the sessions, students were given placement letters to various organisations including Techaide, Fidelity Bank, Star Life, GN Foods, Databank, MTN, Tigo, Vodafone, Barclays Bank & Focus Digital.

L’AINE Services Limited uses this opportunity to thank all these organisations for their contribution in making the “Bridge the Gap” (BTG) internship programme Successful.
